To help achieve the increase of horsepower, Saleen uses a new premium fuel calibration, special Mustang underdrive pulleys and a new Mustang exhaust system. Also available is an optional Saleen "Roots" Supercharger that will boost power to 350 hp. The Saleen S281, with a suggested retail base price of $30.500, joins a family of high performance vehicles that includes the high-performance, high value Saleen Explorer XP8, the 495 hp Saleen Mustang S351 (now sold out - please call for information about its replacement), and the racing derived Saleen Mustang SR.
